The Dunwoody Woman's Club

Dunwoody Woman's Club has been serving the community since 1971 and has grown to a membership of more than one hundred fifteen dedicated volunteers. Meetings are held the third Thursday of the month, September through May, in the Williams Room of the Dunwoody Library.

Community Contributions

We are a service organization of women whose purpose is to join together to expand our skills and apply our abilities as we promote interest and activity in education, philanthropy, civics, moral values and the fine arts.

Our members are leaders in the community whose financial and hands on service contributions have helped to shape the very character of Dunwoody and North DeKalb. DWC members have helped to forge the strong sense of community enjoyed by all who live in this thriving metro Atlanta area.

The Club is committed to six departments of work - Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Affairs, Public Affairs and The Arts. Funding is provided through the annual Dunwoody Home Tour, occurring the first Wednesday in October.

Affiliations

Dunwoody Woman's Club is quite proud to be an affiliate of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), the oldest and largest, non-denomination, non-partisan, international service organization of volunteer women in the world.

For more than a century, members of federated women's clubs have been addressing the needs of their communities and countries through times of social change, technological revolution, war and peace.

Under GFWC, more than 17 million hours and $50 million was donated by federated women's clubs to 173,295 volunteer projects betwen 1998 and 2000.

GFWC is responsible for 75 percent of America's public libraries. As chairman of America's Promise, Colin Powell, now Secretary of State, praised GFWC for their Libraries 2000 program. The program continues yet today.
